The Mission Valley Choral Society has received a $2,000 grant from the Greater Polson Community Foundation. The Lake County community choir has existed since the 1960s. The choir brings a diverse group of people together, all ages with varied backgrounds, united to bring joy through music to the public.
Cathy Gillhouse makes her debut as the MVCS director when the choir performs at the Lake County Centennial Celebration at noon on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Courthouse. They will sing two numbers: Star Spangled Banner and the Montana State Song.
Practices for the celebration are Sunday, Aug. 13, 3 p.m., and Thursday, Aug. 17, 7 p.m., at the Presbyterian
Church Fellowship Hall.
“The choir sings 4-part music,” says Director Gillhouse. “We urge all voices to join us for a fun rewarding experience. We especially need basses and baritones.”
Two concert weekends are planned each year. Christmas 2023 concerts are scheduled for Dec. 16 at the St. Ignatius Mission and Dec. 17 in Polson, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Practices begin Sept. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The spring concert has yet to be scheduled.
